Why game? To avoid making small talk, now it’s your turn. lol
You should just play 4x games with 1p.
You’ve already read why I play games. To connect to the human collective unconscious.the-chaos-cauldron/
To make friends, have fun, and punch Cthulu’s face.
I play for the interactions. People make it fun and its an excuse to meet up with your buds.
It’s sad we need an excuse to get together… “I got the xxx game, let’s meet up!” And then you do what you’d do without the game: mostly hang out and talk.
For the communal experience & good times with friends.
Because playing under-the-table games is frowned upon…
I play games because it’s the best way to teach my daughters about life: cooperation, competition, generosity and double-crossing stab-in-the-back murder.
*like*
I play games to put my overactive mind to work, to give it something interesting to think about and focus on instead of spinning in circles rehashing the day’s events.
A way to have fun with your friends while sober.
Some games are so bad it’s probably better to not play them sober. Or better yet, don’t play those games at all. But the really transcendent games utilize your whole brain, don’t they? I like the hidden-information games because they use your brain without taxing it with too much math.
Gaming is the best social experience and excuse to invite freinds
I play because it´s fun, but also I play tabletop games because I like to see the people I´m playing with… their faces when someone get a 6 on a dice or when someone moves all his troops an try to invade an enemy sector not caring about other players´moves… priceless!
I like the relaxed competition and social interaction of the people with whom I play.
Ahh, relaxed is the key word. Video games can be overwhelming.
I game because I love sharing tension, excitement, and competition with friends, face to face, at a table, with a glass of wine. In a tumbler, of course, to reduce spills.
I play tabletop games for the mental stimulation; playing mostly solo, interaction isn’t all that important to me. I enjoy experiencing the mechanisms, housed in a nice thematic package.
I’ve tried to figure out how Chaosmos could be played solo. Perhaps a phone app could work, or some sort of mysterious forces deck that continually throws threats your way. But that game really soars with three or four people, in my opinion.
Games are much better then TV!
I game so I can beat my wife’s butt without getting arrested.
For me, it is the perfect way to physically connect to people I might otherwise only interact with digitally due to ever increasing life differences. When our entire personal and professional lives are poured out electronically, table top games give us a fresh way to enjoy each other’s company, and also a reason to have a giant pot o’ Doritos sitting on the table.
Its a good way to rebuild the atrophied mess that is my social life 😉
Because it’s great being able to just sit down and do something exciting, particularly when you can imagine you’re in another world, another environment for a couple hours. Being able to do something with friends and family at home or at our local gaming store like this we would prefer than a big party or other event.
I play Tabletop games with my friends and family as a fun way of interacting, as well as spending time making memories!
I am relatively new to gaming. I got interested after half watching/listening to my husband playing a cooperative storytelling game with his friends. I initially thought “gaming isn’t for me” but now I find it a great way to spend time with my husband but I am also learning that I can play (and hold my own) against my seasoned gamer friends at their own crazy conniving and back-stabbery ways to win games! It’s also a ton of fun.
I think Joey’s biased because he designs and publishes a secret information game!
I play tabletop games to keep the brain flexed and the friends near.
I love the process – it takes me to a different reality from life. And I get to share that reality with good friends and new friends.
I play for the competitiveness. The comradery. The opportunity to beat the socks off someone.
I play boardgames to keep my inner child happy, to stay in contact with my friends in a real tangible way, no matter if its co-op or us against the board or a free for all, theres always fun to be have !
But the best thing, is that we are making memories of our own while we play in someone else world, and theres nothing quite like it =)
Besides the personal joy and excitement I get from playing games, I enjoy the social aspects of the games. It is a way of promoting bonding with friends and family.
To Crush my enemies. To See them driven before me. To Hear the lamentations of their women.
…and of course, to show off my awesome sexiness. Nothing hotter than a serious Grognard playing CaseBlue, all in one sitting.
Ahhh Conan! There’s a new one supposedly in the works!
I play to bring my family together.
I play games because it makes me cleverer. Watching TV is making me stupider.
“Why do you play tabletop games?”
Well, how else can you fight goblins, be the traitor, defend the earth and be the Dark Overlord all in an evening?
Loved worst game ever, and like the looks of the other indie game companies, thanks for the raffle, and hope to win some games for my game group!
I hope you win as well!
i enjoy the interaction games provide. good times(drink and food too!) can be had by all even if things don’t go your way.
I play tabletop games because I work a LOT, and unwinding at the table…no tablets, phones, TV, etc. with my friends is a great way to reduce the stress from the work week. There are lots of creative games available that encourage critical thought, creativity and laughter, so it’s always a great time. They are also a lot less expensive than other forms of entertainment, as you can get years of enjoyment out of each purchase. I will always love tabletop games.
Because it’s so much better (for your brain, and for your social life) than television, video games, booze, or junk food.
I play tabletop games to hangout with friends and introduce them to more complicated and strategic games.
Because it lets me forget about my heart issue
Yep, games allow for escape without losing sight of human interaction. Thanks for posting.
First let’s get one thing straight – when I play, I generally lose. That’s because I play for the opportunity to try out a new, crazy, and unorthodox strategies in a never-ending quest to search the entire strategy space of a game.
I game because social generation of emergent systems is awesome!
I game because I like the social bonds created. The memories the experiences create.
I love social escapism with friends.
Chaosmos is fun!
thank you!
I play tabletop games ’cause it’s the greatest thing to do with my spare time and then some. Plus, if I didn’t play, then I’d be forcing someone else to be the sore loser in all the games… I lose… a lot. It’s a public service I’m performing really. Does that make me feel better? No, no, it doesn’t. But it sure is fun!
Games are played to stimulate the mind, have fun with friends and simply to relax
I game because I love to, plain and simple.
I play to enjoy friends, relax, keep my brain active, and eat bacon.
I play games because I am interested in gaming as an art, and to datamine games for mechanics and ideas so that one day I can make my own.
I play games for the experience, friends, solving puzzles and to learn something new!
Because I need to exert dominance over my child somehow.
To explore new mechanics, bond with friends, and to hear the lamentations of those who came in second.
We announced the winners via Periscope live, and emailed them. Sorry!
